Overview

Rare in cultivation. Deciduous large shrub or small tree native to Asia. Globose flowers, nodding or pendent in June. Fragrant. Flowers are less showy than other Magnolia species. M. globosa was first described by Joseph Dalton Hooker and Thomas Thompson in 1855.
