Magnolia sieboldii
Overview
Pure white flowers with contrasting red stamens. Relatively fast growing shrub from Asia (Japan, Korea). Requires shady position (sensitive to sunburn in sunny position), just like M. wilsonii. Hanging, pristine flowers in June, July. Attractive yellow autumn colour. Magnolia sieboldii was first described by Karl Heinrich Emil Koch in 1853. Interspecific M. sieboldii hybrids are often characterized by their crimson red stamens.
