Opposite of abiotic (environmental) factors. Non-biological environmental factors that affect plant growth and development in a specific ecosystem. Abiotic factors influence the (micro-)climate that plants experience. Examples of abiotic factors:
- Soil properties (texture, salinity, acidity)
- Water properties (rainfall, irrigation, pH)
- Air properties (humidity, wind)
- Temperature (seasonality, daily variation, minimum, average, maximum)
- Sunlight properties (light quantity, light quality, daylength)
OT: abiotic factors ↔ biotic factors
BT: environmental factors
RT: polygenic trait
