Polygenic

Regulated by polygenes (polymery). More accurate: a polygenic trait is controlled by many genes (alleles), at different loci on different chromosomes. Individual alleles only result in slight phenotypic differences. In contrast to monogenic or bigenic traits, environmental factors have a major effect on a polygenic trait. Polygenic traits comprise measurable properties, that can be expressed in numbers on continuous scale.
Synonyms: quantitative trait, continuous trait
