Independent horticultural expertise for the real world.
Plants, water and cultivation do not operate in isolation. I work with growers, horticultural companies, project teams and organisations that need experienced, practical plant expertise—from troubleshooting a crop to reviewing a horticultural or agricultural project.
When experience needs to meet the field.
A crop problem rarely respects professional boundaries. Plant physiology meets irrigation. Water management meets roots. Nutrition meets substrate, climate and cultivation practice.
That is where I work best: looking at the complete system, asking what the plant is telling us and translating technical knowledge into practical decisions.
Most assignments can be delivered remotely from the Netherlands: technical reviews, second opinions, crop and irrigation analysis, project advice and ongoing specialist support. When being on location adds real value, I can travel for focused site visits, field assessments, project milestones or training. This remote-first approach also makes international and African project collaboration practical without requiring continuous travel.
How I can contribute.
Plant & Crop Troubleshooting
Independent assessment of plant-health, crop-performance and cultivation problems. A practical second opinion when the symptoms are visible but the cause is not.
Irrigation & Root-Zone Assessment
Reviewing how water actually reaches and interacts with the active root zone, including irrigation practice, wetting patterns and the relationship between water, oxygen and plant performance.
Horticultural & Agricultural Projects
Technical review, field observation, practical feasibility and plant-production input for projects where agricultural ideas must work under real growing conditions.
Plant Expertise for Green Environments
Plant-focused input for urban greening, indoor planting and living-environment projects, with attention to species, growing conditions, water and long-term plant performance.
You do not need to know the answer before contacting me.
From question to useful action.
Send a concise description, photographs, video or project information. For crop problems, context matters as much as the symptom.
We determine whether the right next step is a remote review, technical second opinion, site visit or broader project involvement.
I look across the plant system rather than treating water, nutrition, roots and cultivation as unrelated subjects.
Remote-first, internationally available. Ed normally works from the Netherlands and travels when an on-location assessment, project milestone or training session genuinely benefits the assignment. African horticulture and agriculture projects are particularly welcome. Information shared for an assignment is treated confidentially.
Working on a plant, water or cultivation challenge?
Tell me what you are seeing, what you have already tried and what you need to decide. We can then determine whether my experience is a useful fit for the assignment.
